WHERE IS YOUR GOD? (2)
Fifth, He is in scriptual worship. John 4:24 says, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." So to worship God it must be done in a certain manner. First, it is in spirit and second it is in truth. God is due our worship, but it will be done on his terms not ours. Worship to God is not done the "burger king" way (which is to say, "worship, my way"). God has given us His Word and the way in which He expects us to worship Him. God is in our spiritual worship.
Sixth, He is in His Church, "And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord." (Eph 2:20-21) Jesus is the cornerstone of this church, God would by implication be in it. Eph 1:22 says, "And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church." Again this is referring to Jesus, He is that corner stone and He is the head of all things concerning the Chruch. God is in His Church.
Seventh, He is in the Christian's life, Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." How can we know God can be seen in our life, if we say that we are Christians. Here is a checklist, if you will, to help us know if God can be seen in us. "And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." (2 Pet 1:5-8). That should be enough right there to ensure that as Christians, God can be seen in us. But just in case there is doubt still, look at this verse, "Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy." ( 1 Pet 1:16) God is in the Christian's life.
Finally, Where is my God? He is Everywhere. Psa 139:7-10 says, "Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me." God is everywhere, there is no place on Earth you could run to that His presence is not there. As the Psalmist stated, he could not flee from the presence of God. We have looked at seven places that the presence of God could be seen creation, nature, government, His Word, Scriptual Worship, His Church, the Christian's Life. That means that God is everywhere, as Christian we can take solace in this fact, God is with us always,"for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Heb 13:5 We must keep our faith in God and never doubt in His word, let those who wish to mock Him and deny Him, do so at thier own peril. However, we "shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32
